RE: White King Water Softener & The Geo Method

Has anyone ever tried dish washer liquid like Cascade? Seems to me to be the same stuff just a water softner and soap---

RE: How do you feel: campgrounds that require a "newer" rig?

Yes you can do something and that is dont go there--my TT is fairly new and I avoid those type of CG's--not the kind of people I want to associate with--I agree some people will show up like the Clampetts but most everyone here started out with an older camper and moved up from there--I know in Pa at the state parks people will come in with blue tarps and their site will look like a junk yard in 2 days but then address them they are the problem --dont deny the family man with the 1999 TT or MH access-- he may have worked hard to restore his camper to a decent shape so he could start his kids camping---now if it is because they want pretty and shiny new RV's there then may he fall into bankruptcy and have to use a tent if he wants to camp

RE: Poulsbo RV in Ridgefield, WA?

Almost all RV's come in with left over construction materials left behind and it is up to the dealer to prep it for sale and clean and repair all the little things that need fixed--hence dealer prep charge----mine had a 2 page check list they went over and then operated everything for us when we did the class thing including pumping water thru it and dumping tanks--sounds like alot of your problems were obvious and should have been taken care of--sounds like time to open up the can of whoop @$$ and stop being nice and demand it be taken care of or your gonna get blowed off---their thing with the pigs ear dont hold water since you did buy it new-- stand your ground

RE: Question for RV'ers

I now know why somebody told me to never take my pop up to a RV park.
You just answered your own question--you're in an RV park and those people are not camping--they are probably wondering why the heck you got a camp fire going and are roasting marshmallows.---They are there in place of a hotel to visit the area or are fulltimers---dont think nobody is bashing you it just came across as kind of arrogant I guess

RE: Question for RV'ers

Alot has to do with the type of campground you are staying in too--in the private CG's or so called resorts you will find more full timers and RV'ers cause they can stay for more then 2 weeks and is usually just a spot to stay while you explore the sights of the area -and there is usually swimming pools and activities for older folks--and no I do not consider going to a camping resort as camping--although I enjoy that aspect of RV'ing alot--at the state parks you find more "campers" and more families doing the swimming, hiking, camping thing---most state parks I have been too I have never really noticed anyone staying indoors alot ---then there is the dry campers or boondockers---no one knows what they do out there in the woods by themselves:W---but I think they stay inside so they dont become bear bait

RE: How to avoid Chattanooga drop off ? !

Head west, swing up by the Badlands, over to Washington coast, down to San Francisco, over to Joshua Tree NP, catch White Sands, swing back down south around the mountains back up to Carlsbad Caverns, then spend a couple days crossing Texas, visit the National Battlefield in Vicksburg, and finally swing up to Chattanoga on I59. You may still enconter a few hills, but at least you will miss the big drop off in TN and have a heck of an adventure.

RE: TT: Buy new or used?

With so many TT's on the market cause of the gas prices you should be able to find an almost new one--mine I just bought is an 05 the guy used maybe 5 times and it is a whole lot cheaper--as soon as you drive off the lot you lose more then $5000 --mine was $10000 less than the same TT new and it looks brand new and this guy already upgraded the bed and put heavier 15 in tires on it and added the 2nd battery--so most of the used ones have the bugs out and many upgrades--just look on line and in the paper, dont go to a dealer cause they still think they are made of gold---I too could have bought a brand new TT for what I paid for this one but it was cheaper constructed and didnt have the upgrades I got--just dont get in a hurry and look around with winter coming lots more will go up for sale

RE: Question for RV'ers

Been camping for 50 years now starting with just a sleeping bag on the ground under the stars no tent or tarp and moved up gradually from there with many tents, the back of a van, 3 pop-ups, 2 TT's, a Class A, and now back to a TT---the thing is the older you get, along with some camping trips in the snow with Uncle Sam, these old bones dont take to kindly to the ground or air mattresses or even that 5 inch thick styrafoam thing they call a mattress in a pop up---dont worry you'll get to that point too---now if you see my TT and you dont see me and the dog sittin outside or walking or fishin or cookin and eatin and sitting by the fire long after you go to bed usually till 2 AM, then call the ambulance and notify my next of kin cause I am probably dead---You dont have to sleep on the ground to enjoy camping and sooner or later you will realize that it is alot less hassle to hook up to a TT or drive a MH then it is to load all your stuff up and then unload it once you get home---and we wont even get into weathering a severe storm with 40-50 mph winds in a popup compared to a TT-been there done that--yes there are those who will set up and you never see them but if that is the way they like to unwind then so be it, but dont include all TT's and MH owners in that bunch--dont worry you have had your pop-up for what a year now--and you may have it for a couple more but sooner or later you are gonna move on up

RE: Towing or Carrying a Harley or Gold Wing

I got one of those Lowe's construction trailers they sell for bout $2500 it's 6x12--I beefed up the floor with an extra layer of 1/2 inch plywood and put in some heavy D-rings in the floor with a wheel chock and I have hauled my Electra glide all over the country ---I paid $1600 for mine and have all total about $1800 in it including my little flame stickers from AutoZone----I aint fancy but sure hauls my bike just as well as my friends bike trailer that cost him $6000 and I have put a heck of alot more miles on mine

I would stay a ways off of Hershey like in Harrisburg--it is only 1/2 hout to an hour away but has some real nice CG's on the river--Hershey is overpriced cause they think they have Disney land there

RE: Are there dependable cash special TVs?

Check your local lots and craigslist etc there are a ton of vehicles out there cheap cause the lots are full of them and cant sell them---the Dodge lot here in town is giving lifetime warranty on the motors of their used trucks--course if they had included the tranny it would be nice but it is just the motor which every little bit helps

RE: '08 Dodge Turck Deals

Life time warranty on the gas only and average $10,000 0ff list so had to check for the warranty at least--- but definitly nothing for your trade--sales guy was embarassed to even tell me they wanted to give me only $13,000 for my 07 with only 7000 miles on it----works out to bout the same costs if you had bought it last year--if you are going in with cash it's a heck of a deal and may still be a good deal to just get the warranty but if trading it is not much of a deal money wise---now if you're trading a little 4 cyl you might get something for it

RE: First trip to Outdoor World gettysburg, not much fun.

I've never seen a tag on the outside of a trailer listing weights before.......usually they are inside on the inside of a cabinet door. Maybe things have changed???
Little metal tag on the road side of most RV's been there like forever and I believe even before they put them in the cabinets--usually cant read it after it's been in the weather awhile and I believe that's why it's in the cabinet now--it dont give as much info as the one in the cabinet, but they still put it outside too
